Flemish Harpsichord – Copy of J. Ruckers – a manual 1638 Russel Collection

This Flemish harpsichord is an accurate reproduction of J. Ruckers' 1638 model, part of the Russell Collection in Edinburgh, and is distinguished by its attention to historical detail and acoustic fidelity. The case, constructed of basswood with fine moldings, matches the beechwood bridges and registers that configure a double 8' and a 4' plus lute, expanding the instrument's sonic possibilities. Equipped with 61 ebony and bone or ivory keys, extendable from FF to f'', it allows transpositions of 392, 415 and 440 hz, adapting to various musical contexts. The pedestal, faithfully replicated from the original, features molded panels and an elegant colonnade that enhance its classic aesthetic. The coloring is done with water-based dyes enhanced by gold stripes on the sides, while the soundboard, made of fine spruce from Val di Fiemme, is available with or without custom decoration. The strings combine yellow, red and iron brass for a clear, bright sound, supported by pearwood brackets with special black delrin picks for durability. The generous dimensions of 205 cm in length, 86 cm in width, and 24 cm in height make this harpsichord a majestic addition to any setting, whether for performance or as a collector's piece.
